Tradition and the mysterious "Red (BENI)"

Since the Edo Period, women have been coloring their lips with glossy "Beni," a red pigment made from safflower petals. Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Isehan-Honten is the only company in Japan that has been following the ancient Japanese Beni manufacturing method since its founding in 1825. At the Beni Museum in Minato-ku, Tokyo, materials on Beni history and the manufacturing process are exhibited. You can also try out or purchase products in the salon. There are now only 2 Beni artisans who are still preserving the Beni manufacturing technique. Why not come experience the mysterious traditional world of Beni?
