'Rikugi-en', the Japanese garden representing Tokyo

Rikugi-en is well known as representative of the traditional Japanese gardens found in metropolitan areas. It was created for Tsunayoshi, the fifth Tokugawa shogun, by his advisor Yoshiyasu Yanagizawa. Rikugi-en is famous for azalea, but also famous for its weeping cherry blooming in late March. 都内を代表する日本庭園として知られる六義園。徳川五代将軍綱吉の側用人、柳沢吉保が造営した大名庭園です。つつじの花が有名ですが、3月末に咲き誇る枝垂れ桜も銘木として知られています。
